PDRS activity requirements:


Activity requirements for BESS2 in the PDRS Rule require that:

 

  • Batteries are listed on the Clean Energy Council’s list of approved batteries, which is the product list specified by the Scheme Administrator, and:

    • have a combined usable battery capacity that is greater than 2 kWh and less than 28 kWh

    • have a minimum 6 years remaining on warranty

  • The battery warranty must define normal use conditions during the operation of the battery as not being less than:

    • ​a minimum ambient temperature range of -10 °C to 50 °C 

    • a minimum warranted cumulative energy throughput equivalent to 2.8 MWh per kWh of Usable Battery Capacity

    • A minimum warranted cumulative energy throughput equivalent to 3.65 MWh per kWh of Usable Battery Capacity where the Implementation Date is on or after 1 April 2026

  • Participation in the VPP must not void or diminish the battery warranty below the conditions listed above.

  • There must be no life support equipment at the premise. Life support equipment means any of the following:

    • An oxygen concentrator

    • An intermittent peritoneal dialysis machine

    • A kidney dialysis machine

    • A CPAP respirator

    • Crigler Najjar syndrome phototherapy equipment

    • A ventilator for life support

    • Any other equipment that a registered medical professional certifies is required for a person residing at the premises for life support.

  • The premise must have a solar PV system either existing or installed with the battery

  • The premise must be a residential site or a business site where annual electricity consumption is below

100MWh. 

  • The VPP contract must be for the provision of demand response capacity with a Demand Response

Aggregator for at least 12 months

  • No previous incentive has been claimed under the PDRS for connecting your battery to a VPP. The BESS2

incentive is only available once for the lifetime of the system.
